FAQs

  • What is the setting time for the cement?

Self-curing time for Envy is 4 minutes (±1 min)

  • Does it need to be light cured?

Envy is duel cure therefore, it will set with or without a curing light.

  • Does it need a bonding agent?

Envy does not need a bonding bonding agent. If you would like you can use EDS'bonding agent with ENVY for dentin or enamel.

  • Should I use a bonding agent down the root canal?

No, Bonding down the root canal may cause a snap-set with cements.

  • Is it OK to use a product like Ivoclean prior to placing Envy?

During the try-in step, the surfaces of the restoration can become contaminated with blood and/or saliva, creating a barrier that prevents surface of the restoration. If there is blood and/or saliva contamination Ivoclean will help and can be used safely with Envy.

  • What is Envy's film thickness?

Envy has a film thickness between 20-25 microns.

  • Envy seems to be not setting or setting longer than expected.

Upon first opening and using an ENVY syringe it is important to make sure base and catalyst are expressed evenly. If they are not expressed evenly it can effect the setting time and mechanical properties of the material. Upon first use uncap the syringe, and using very light pressure, express a small amount on a mixing pad until both catalyst and base flow evenly. Upon achieving even catalyst and base you may then place the mixing tip and use ENVY.

  • Is Envy cement too viscous?

Envy cement exhibits thixotropic behavior. This means that when placing a restoration with the usual pressure, a low film thickness and an exact placement is achieved. The benefit of the higher viscosity in the absence of pressure is that Envy cement does not flow away from the prepared tooth, restoration or instrument and that excess removal is easier.

  • When I test Envy on a mixing pad, it is setting too slow or not setting.

By moving and mixing Envy on a pad you are introducing more air into the matrix. This will enhibit the set. When placed under a crown clinically the cement will self cure.
